You can still have your gluten free apple crisp and eat it too!
I absolutely love dessert. My favorite dessert of all time is apple pie but this recipe for apple crisp satisfies my apple pie craving every time and with no gluten in it! After about 12 tries I developed the following Apple Crisp recipe.
8 large granny smith apples
1/2 cup gluten-free flour
½ cup gluten free oats
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup chopped pecans
¼ cup chopped walnuts
½ teaspoon nutmeg
1 stick butter, melted
Mix together dry ingredients in a large bowl and add melted butter, mix well.
Peel and slice apples and put in a 9 x 9 buttered pan. Spread dry mixture evenly over apples and bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Increase heat to 375 and bake until bubbly. Top with gluten free ice cream for apple crisp ala mode!
